Elizabeth Berkley born July 28,  is an American actress, philanthropist, and producer. In theater, she received critical acclaim for her performance in the play Hurlyburly. Berkley was born and raised in Farmington Hills , a community located among Detroit 's northern suburbs in the affluent Oakland County, Michigan. She is the daughter of Jere, a gift-basket business owner, and Fred Berkley, a lawyer. She was raised in a Conservative Judaism household, and had a bat mitzvah.

All alone in the world, Nomi Malone, making her way to Las Vegas, is determined to make a name as a dancer while putting her unspoken past behind her. Her tough, streetwise veneer is not as infallible as she would like, she, as she arrives in Vegas, becoming more cautious in the way she approaches strangers who seem willing to help her purely out of the goodness of their heart. Her talent and connections in combination are only able to get her a job at the Cheetah Club, a strip joint. Her first true friend in Vegas, Molly Abrams, works as the costumer for Goddess, the topless production at the Stardust.
It might be one of the great vindications in cinema history. Introducing the movie, she was cheered on by thousands of adoring fans — going some way to compensate for the undue vilification she had received for her performance 20 years before. As the story goes, in the mids, riding off the box-office success of their luridly Hitchcockian erotic thriller Basic Instinct, director Paul Verhoeven and scriptwriter Joe Eszterhas had something of a free rein for their next project — which took the shape of a film that made Basic Instinct look positively austere. Unfortunately, though, that provocation did not translate into ticket sales.
We have officially reached the point at which it no longer qualifies as an original insight to note that Showgirls may be much better than most people have given it credit for. But the last piece of this rehabilitation has yet to be completed. Berkley gave a go-for-broke performance of blistering intensity and nearly torpedoed her entire career along the way. She inspired the nastiest critical put-downs and earned not one, but two Razzies. Nayman, or this fine film, or reality itself, but this is precisely where I intend to go.
